A large party from Wessex Branch attended the National AGM & Dinner Dance and this report is from their Branch Chairman, Joy Vallis
On behalf of the Wessex Branch I would like to express our thanks to David, Gillian and the Yorkshire Branch for the wonderfull weekend spent in Leeds where the weather proved to be dry and warm until we were leaving. Who says it always rains up North?
Twenty of us travelled up with some arriving on Thursday. The reception on the Friday was good, we were made to feel most welcome and it was a great hotel. The men who played golf on the Friday had a great afternoon and this was followed by a BBQ in the evening at the golf club. We finished the evening with the a singsong in the hotel, after hours as usual, we never know when to go to bed. Saturday's meeting was good, short and to the point followed by a fine lunch. Saturday afternoon was spent relaxing to get ready for the evening which proved to be a great event. The meal once again was exquisite, we enjoyed the brass band of juniors that played throughout the meal and we thought they were very entertaining. On the whole the evening was a great success, Tom and Carmel winning not just one raffle prize but three! I would just like once again to express our thanks to David and Gillian and look forward to seeing you all in Bournemouth next year when we hope our weekend will be as fun filled and entertaining as yours.
