"I have always had the full support of my family which includes my 2 Sons, their Partners and 5 Grandchildren.."
Gerry Hill - Past Chairman, National Treasurer
I was born in London on 6th September 1946. Upon leaving school in 1961 I started my apprenticeship as an architectural metal craftsman and welder with Bassett and Findley in South London. I married my wife Carol in Jan 1965 where we set up home and enjoyed the first two years of our married life again in South London. However, during 1967 my company decided to move to Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
The company asked us to move with them which we agreed to after much thought and deliberation as at this time my wife had given birth to our first son Paul. Having made the decision to move to Wellingborough within a year or two we had settled into our new home and environment. Our second son Adam was born in 1969 which prompted me to make a career move, so I went to Labore Pumps as a foreman welder.
When Adam started school, Carol pursued her career in the Nursing profession which progressed to her running Hillside Homes where she manages and looks after young people and adults with learning difficulties. During the late 80’s I reformed Unipas Services Limited a small subsidiary of Kimbell Construction Ltd.. So between us we managed both companies and led a very active lifestyle.
However, we have always managed to find time to enjoy a good social life. I have always had the full support of my family which includes my 2 Sons, their Partners and 5 Grandchildren. I would like to think that this is our main achieved objective in life being a firm and ambitious family man and wife always finding the time to strengthen our characters and help others to achieve their goals..
