Mike Clancy, a Staffs. and Midlands Branch member, together with three others are driving from John O'Groats to Lands End on four vintage tractors to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Relief Fund.

Wednesday  Day 12.   Yesterday, Wednesday, the team travelled across Dartmoor and Bodmin Moors, arrivimg at their final destination, Lands End,  at 7.00 p.m.   Take a look at a map of the U.K. and marvel at the enormity of such a journey on vintage farm tractors.   For the record Mike drove a 1947 David Brown Cropmaster, Ross King a 1962 Ford Dexta, Ian Snaith a 1957 Fordson Major and Geoff Lamb was on a 1958 International B450.   The vital support crew, travelling in a van with all the gear necessary for such a run were Pat McGeever, the PR man and general organiser with Chris Ginderton as driver, refueller and  all the others things needed to help them on their way.   Together they travelled 960 miles in 12 days and received great encouragement on the way from the general public.    A final good deed came from a local farmer who offered accomodation for the tractors until they are picked up by Mike's low loader.   The four drivers flew back to Birmingham today, Thursday,  leaving the support crew to organise the loading and then the long drive home.   If you have enjoyed reading about their travel and would like to make a donation towards the Prostate Cancer Relief Fund, make out a cheque to the Fund and send it to The Secretary, C.M.P.E. Staffs. & Midlands Branch, 139 New Penkridge Road, Cannock, WS11 1HN

SCOTPLANT   The C.M.P.E. was present at the show, staffed by the National Chairman Gerry Bingham together with a number of members of Glasgow Branch, and considerable interest came from prospective new members of both the Glasgow and Aberdeen Branches.    On view was Mike's tractor and Janet Bingham raised £400 with her bucket appeal which, together with a donation from Glasgow Branch of £100, gave a good start to the fund.
